Thermo Plastic Elastomers (TPE)
Thermo Plastic Elastomers (TPE) are a range of polymers than can be moulded or extruded like a plastic when over their melt temperature, but exhibit properties of thermoset rubber.
The advantage of using TPE over thermoset rubber is that it can be easily re-moulded and re-worked whereas rubber cannot.
TPE can be soft, stretchy and flexible or hard and rigid depending on the mix of compounds used.
MRM has experience moulding the following TPE's using tooling with a clamping force of 20 to 120 tonnes:-
- Polypropylene
- Polyethylene
- PVC
- Nylon Type 66
- Thermoplastic Rubber
